The Theory Y manager makes certain assumptions:

  • Participative style
  • Soft style
  • Assumes motivation is the need to fulfill social, esteem, self-actualization and security
  • Workers are creative and eager to work
  • Workers respond to favorable working conditions
  • Workers desire responsibility
  • Workers see work as a natural activity
  • Assumes work is as natural as play or rest
  • Strong desire to participate in decision making
  • Involved with organizational planning
